Botanical Garden

The Botanical gardens in Waimea Valley is home to some of the islands most diverse collection of plant life preserved and studied in any one place on Oahu.

The gardens offer an array of different displays that educate visitors on the uses and importance of Hawaii’s native and introduced plant species.

Enjoy the fragrant flower gardens with blooms grown commonly for use in Hawaii’s symbol of Aloha, the lei. Take in the fresh air meandering under the lush green tree top canopies.

Note: Waimea Botanical Garden and Falls is closed on Mondays all year except the Summer months, which is June to August. Despite this, Monday luaus still pushes through all year round. On Mondays, gates will open 30min prior to check-in time for Toa Luau guests only.

The Hike

Waimea Valley is open from 9am to 4pm. The Valley offers a scenic paved path leading up to Waimea Falls at three quarters of a mile one way. While pace may differ for each visitor, the path can take anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes to complete one way. 

With a paved scenic path leading straight to the 45 ft. natural waterfall, Waimea Falls is one of the most accessible falls on Oahu. The falls measure about 40ft in height, splashing into a large pool available for visitors to swim in. Life jackets of all sizes are offered free of charge.

The path is also easily accessible to those who may have any physical mobility limitations. A golf cart shuttle is offered for the fee of 10$ per person for a trip up to the falls and back down.
